Sale of Shipping Containers in Minsk and Belarus: 40HC Catalog, Buyback, and Auto Delivery

Sale of Shipping Containers in Minsk and Belarus: 40HC Catalog, Buyback, and Auto Delivery

The market for shipping containers in Belarus is undergoing a transformation. While containers used to be perceived exclusively as shipping equipment, today they are full-fledged assets: mobile warehouses, construction modules, foundations for living spaces, or commercial facilities. Demand for high-quality containers is growing, but finding a reliable supplier with transparent terms is no easy task.

"First Minsk Terminal" has created an open catalog of shipping containers where every buyer can see the actual condition, a fair price, and order delivery straight to their site. But our business model isn't limited to just sales. We also buy back containers from owners who want to quickly and effortlessly get rid of their equipment. This creates a closed loop: a container comes to us, undergoes inspection, gets repaired if necessary, and then appears in the catalog for a new owner.

What's in the Catalog: Container Types and Conditions

Currently, our catalog specializes in 40-foot High Cube (40HC) containers. This is the most in-demand format on the market: a height of 2.9 meters (instead of the standard 2.6 meters) provides an extra 12% of volume, which is critical for logistics and commercial use.

Containers in the catalog are divided into three key conditions accepted in international practice:

IICL (Institute of International Container Lessors)

The highest quality standard. Containers in IICL condition have passed a rigorous inspection against 12+ criteria: door geometry, floor condition, weather-tightness, locking mechanism operation, and the absence of structural damage. These containers are fully suitable for international sea freight without restrictions. In the catalog, they are priced at 1,500–1,600.

CW (Cargo Worthy)

Working condition. The container is fully functional, weather-tight, and has a valid CSC plate (safety certificate). Minor surface defects are acceptable: rust traces along the bottom edges, paint scuffs, and minor scratches inside. This is the optimal choice for use as a warehouse, workshop, or foundation for a modular building. Price: 1,200–1,400.

As-is

Budget segment. Containers with signs of use and possible traces of repair. They have a CSC plate but require additional inspection before being used for sea freight. Ideal for static storage, construction projects, or recycling. Price: from $1,200.

Every container in the catalog has a unique number (e.g., TDLU6222005), allowing you to track its history and verify it through international databases.

Buyback Program: How Your Container Gets into the Catalog

We don't just sell containers — we actively buy them from owners looking to quickly liquidate their assets. The scheme is simple:

Evaluation

  1. You send us photos of the container (8–10 angles: doors, floor, roof, side walls, CSC plate) and provide the number. Our specialists conduct a remote evaluation and offer a preliminary price.

On-site Inspection

  1. If you agree with the price, you bring the container to our terminal in Machulishchi (or we arrange pickup with our own transport). An inspector conducts a detailed inspection, comparing the condition with the photos.

The Deal

  1. We sign a sale and purchase agreement, and you receive payment. The container transfers to our ownership.

Preparation for Sale

  1. The container undergoes washing, and minor repairs if necessary (seal replacement, touch-up painting, defect removal). It is photographed and placed in the catalog with an honest description of its condition.

For the owner, this means: no searching for buyers, no viewings, no haggling. You get paid immediately, while we take on all the hassle of pre-sale preparation and marketing.

Filtering in the Catalog: How to Quickly Find the Right Container

The catalog interface is designed for maximum transparency. You can filter containers by two key parameters:

By Container Type

Currently, the catalog specializes in 40HC, but the system is ready for expansion. In the future, filters will appear for 20-foot standard (20DV), 40-foot standard (40DV), refrigerated (Reefer), and specialized containers (Open Top, Flat Rack).

By Condition

You can choose the required quality: IICL for international shipping, CW for commercial use. The filter instantly shows available options with current prices.

Container Information on the Card

  • Unique number

  • Brief condition description

  • Price in US dollars

  • Button to request additional photos

If no containers are found for the selected filters, it means all units in this category have already been sold. You can leave a request, and we will notify you when new stock arrives.

Container Delivery: Container Trucks Right to Your Gate

Buying a container is only half the battle. It needs to be delivered to the site, and that is no easy task: a 40-foot container weighs 3.8 tons (tare weight), is 12 meters long, and nearly 3 meters high. A standard truck-mounted crane won't handle it.

"First Minsk Terminal" has its own fleet of container trucks — specialized tractor units with semi-trailers equipped with hydraulic systems for loading and unloading containers.

How It Works

  1. Order. You choose a container in the catalog, specify the delivery address, and agree on a date.

  2. Loading. At the terminal, the container is loaded onto the container truck using crane equipment.

  3. Delivery. The driver brings the container to the specified address. We deliver across the entire Republic of Belarus: Minsk, Gomel, Brest, Vitebsk, Mogilev, Grodno, and regional centers.

  4. Unloading. The container is removed from the trailer and placed in the designated spot. The main requirement is that the access roads must withstand the load of heavy transport (gross vehicle weight with the container is up to 30 tons).

Important Nuances

  • Delivery is made "to the gate" — meaning up to the entrance of your property. If the container needs to be moved deep into the property or placed on a prepared pad, this is discussed separately.

  • Delivery costs are calculated individually depending on the distance and access complexity.

  • We provide all necessary documents: commercial invoice, waybill, and certificates of conformity.

Who Is This Relevant For?

Logistics Companies and Freight Forwarders

Purchasing IICL containers to expand their own fleet or replace out-of-service equipment. Buyback of old containers that no longer meet sea freight standards.

Construction and Manufacturing Enterprises

Using CW and As-is containers as mobile warehouses, site offices, and workshops. A container can be insulated, wired for electricity, and fitted with windows — resulting in a fully functional space for a fraction of the cost of permanent construction.

Agribusiness and Farms

Storing crops, fertilizers, and equipment. Containers protect against precipitation, rodents, and vandals.

Private Individuals

Modular homes, garages, and utility sheds. Container architecture is a global trend, and Belarus is no exception.

Answers to questions

You will receive a sale and purchase agreement, a commercial invoice, and a copy of the CSC plate (safety certificate). Containers in IICL condition are fully suitable for sea freight. For CW and As-is, additional inspection is required before use in international voyages.
The process takes 1–3 business days: from photo evaluation to payment. Conditions: the container must have a legible CSC plate, not be pledged or under arrest, and have no critical structural damage (unless agreed upon in advance).
Yes, but with caveats. A container truck has high off-road capability, but the gross weight with the cargo reaches 30 tons. Dirt roads must be dry and able to withstand such a load. During the muddy season (spring/autumn), delivery may be restricted.
We provide a warranty that the container matches the catalog description. If you find defects after purchase that were not listed in the description (e.g., hidden corrosion of load-bearing structures), we will review the claim and offer compensation or a replacement.
Yes, we work with both single orders and bulk purchases. Individual terms and discounts are provided for purchases of 5 or more containers. Contact a manager for a quote.
We accept payment in cash and by bank transfer (for legal entities). Payment is made before the container is loaded at the terminal. Deferred payment under a contract is possible for corporate clients.
We do not perform construction work, but we can recommend trusted contractors specializing in container architecture. The container will be delivered to their site or to your property.
You can leave a notification request, and we will contact you when similar options become available. We can also help you find an alternative with similar specifications.
Yes, you can visit the terminal in Machulishchi or Borisov to inspect the container. Please coordinate your visit with a manager in advance so we can prepare the container for viewing and provide an escort.
A container can be installed on any flat surface: concrete, asphalt, compacted soil, or a gravel bed. No special foundation is required, but the surface must be horizontal (slope no more than 2–3 cm over the length of the container) and able to withstand a load of 4–5 tons per corner casting.
